When talking of marketing and in particular communications, one often hears the expression, targetting the consumer. Personally I prefer the expression "connecting with". It's more respectful and underlines the nature of a two way relationship based on mutual understanding. Below is a link which sums this up beautifully. How to connect with an audience in a language and framework that they recognise, understand, identify with....in order to build awareness, change preconceived ideas and hopefully stimulate demand.
Prêtre Academy comes from the diocese of Besançon in France where they have decided to take a fairly bullish and innovative approach to the problem of declining numbers in people turning to the priesthood. Using the template of Star Academy- the logo, music and visual format, now universally recognised, 3 priests talk about what it means to be a priest; their doubts, their faith, what prayer means to them via the 'confessional' and scenes from their daily life. It would be so easy for this to fall into the trap of being just a gimmick but Prêtre Academy manages to stay fresh and authentic.
