What a great way to spend a Friday afternoon. Lille School of Management welcomed Raymond Redding, Directeur Général délegué from La Poste to sponsor this year's first year business management programme students. A natural orator with a sunny accent, he regaled students with his experience and vision of business today. It was amusing to hear him say that his main rival is Bill Gates, except that he's not joking.... and he's right. The business of communications has changed dramatically but that's no reason for you to change your values, this was his key message. Have confidence in yourself, work on optimising your strong points, be innovative but show responsible management, keep your soul and integrity both on a personal and professional level. It was particularly pleasant to hear him not only talk about that oft taught marriage of hard and soft skills, the "savoir faire" and "savoir être" but to see how he has put these skills to good use. Throughout his career he has worked in most of the truly operational aspects of La Poste as well as manage teams through challenging periods. The school has many links with La Poste, ranging from close working partnerships across professional trade fairs such as Salon VAD to internships, apprenticeships and membership of our Conseil d'administration. This is one more link in a solid chain and provides a great role model for us all.
